Photoshop Tutorial & Challenge

Hey there it's Simply, Ann and for today I am going to do another review. This particular review is for our Photoshop tutorial and challenge in graphic design. In this review I will be going over my process, and reflection of this project. I will also be giving an overview of the tools that I used. Like always thank you for reading
xoxo Simply, Ann

 Tutorial 1

For tutorial number one it started out pretty simple. The task was to remove, and edit the background. for this tutorial I used two different tools which included the magic lasso tool and the marquee tool. The Marquee tool is the most basic of selection tools and often the one most useful. This tool is used to draw selections based on geometric shapes. Specifically, the marquee tool allows you to draw rectangular and elliptical selections. The Magnetic Lasso Tool is an edge detection tool, meaning that it actively searches for the edge of the object as you're moving around it, then snaps the selection outline to the edge and clings to it like a magnet.

    Tutorial 2

For the next tutorial, the task was to remove the graphic on the Father's shirt. In this this tutorial I used the lasso tool again and I also used the Patch tool to actually edit the graphic out. The Patch tool is used to remove unwanted image elements.

Tutorial 3

In this tutorial I had to remove the tag off the Model's coat. To do this I used the clone stamp tool. The Photoshop Clone Stamp Tool allows you to copy one area of an image and copy it onto another area. For this I clone different colors from her coat to brush over the tags.

Tutorial 4

In this tutorial I again continued to use the clone stamp tool. I used it to remove unnecessary detail in the background. This one was a little bit more challenging then the previous tutorials because you had to make sure all of it blended in well.

Tutorial 5

This tutorial I used the spot healing tool. The Spot Healing Brush is the default healing tool in Photoshop and can be used to clone areas from an image and blend the pixels from the sampled area seamlessly with the target area. For this photo I used the tool to diminish the boy's dirt blemishes.

Tutorial 6

In this tutorial I built a portrait collage, this was indeed the tutorial of difficulty. To complete this tutorial we had to undergo many steps. We had to combine the three individual photos and make it one. To do that we had to get rid of some background details as well as extend the three photos so they could all blend together to look like a whole. We also had to edit the shoulders so you can fully see them. To do this we had to use a similar photo that showed all of her shoulders and mask that in there. Along with the many steps we also used many tools such as the clone stamp tool, the guide tool, and we used a mask layer.

Tutorial 7

For this tutorial you had to put the ad/logo on the bottle. Also you had to add a glow, and make it look like its floating in the background.

Tutorial 8

In this last tutorial you are given a McDonald's ad photo and the task was to put it on the billboard so it look like a generic billboard you see on the road. For this I scale down the photo to cater to the billboard, and I rounded the edges so it looks smooth.

Challenge

For the challenge you had to use everything that you learned and apply that to images that are given to you. You also had to make sure that the man's face was visible.

Conclusion

Three key tools I learned are the clone stamp tool, the lasso tool, and the patch tool. These tools are important because they're basic tools that hold the most value, and significance. I use these tools the most. My strengths was that even though I had messed up multiple times I didn't give up and I kept trying again and again till it was right. My weaknesses was organization, this was my weakness especially doing the challenge. My layers were highly unorganized and they were all over the place. Another weakness I had doing this tutorial is time management, because I my determination not to give up, it cause me to fall behind. What I would do the same is the challenge , even though I didn't get enough time to finish it I don't think I would change anything about it. Overall this was fun to do, and I enjoyed learning about Photoshop.
