Short Film blog

Hey there It's Simply, Ann and this blog post is about my most recent short film. This particular project definitely had its ups and downs, so lets start from the beginning. When we got in groups I thought since we worked so well as a group with our psa project, we could try another go round with our short films. So I grouped up with the people from my previous project. Also to take into consideration many of the upperclassmen that could possibly help better our knowledge of things pair up together. Our group ended up being the only one without a senior. Not letting this get the best of us we discussed what scripts we were going to do. Originally we chose my script Saving Noah. Saving Noah is about a girl named Corinna Jones who is given the chance to go back in time and save a fellow student, Noah from committing suicide. The first day of pre-production I was gone out sick. Coming back I got bombarded with the assignment of basically all of the major production roles. While I was gone my team gave me the roles of dp, director, producer, production designer, and art director. Before I started writing my script I already had an idea on who I wanted my actors to be. One of them included Franchesca who was also apart of my group, while the other was a another in student our class. Going into production we were not prepared and we were also unaware on how much time my script would actually take. Then to add onto our burdens my male lead actor did not like how much time my film took away from his group so he took all of his frustration out on me. Within seconds after he yelled we decide it would be best to let him go to focus on his work. The next day we kind of went back to pre production in a way because we had to find a replacement. We came up with many ideas to change my script in case we couldn't find a another actor. Overall we decide because of how unorganized we were to just start over. It wasn't to hard to do this because we only filmed a couple of scenes from my script. Ashlee, one of my group members came up with the idea to create a film inspired by a song. With this idea we re-did our storyboards and roles. Filming our improved short was not as nearly as difficult as the first. Even though we were behind we manage to get our film done on time. It's not the best work we could've done but the most important part was that we finished on time as a team. If I could go back I would completely redo everything we did in pre-production .Overall we got a lot of positive feedback back , which was really uplifting for all of the struggles we went through. As always thank you for reading!
