Graphic Design- Semester Reflection

Hey there It's Simply, Ann and this week is finals week... Scary I know! My final for graphic design is to do a reflection our this semester, which is what i did down below. Thank for reading!
xoxo Simply, Ann

What did we do this semester?
Over this semester we did a lot of different things including our raccoon, vector portrait, and infographic project, this can also be seen on my behance.

For the raccoon project we were supposed to follow a tutorial for which we had to use various tools in illustrator to create a raccoon. Then when we were completed with our raccoon we had to put it in a fall background and a postcard. Our teacher  gave us complete freedom for the background as long as it was appropriate. I decide because I'm Ann and i wanted to be different , to make my raccoon or in my case raccoons getting married. I really enjoyed this project because i got to express my creativity with the backgrounds. Challenges that i faced were definitely making the raccoon because i didn't know much about illustrator. The final outcome was great, if i could go back i would change just a few things but overall i really liked my outcome.

For our second project we vectored portraits of ourselves. This was really challenging for me because I had a hard time making it look like me. It took a few weeks to do just like all of the projects we did. Along the way i learned many tools in illustrator such as the pen tool. The thing i struggled with most was my hair, so i watch a tutorial on how to do it which helped me a lot. The final outcome i wasn't really proud of because it didn't really look like me that much but there was a slight resemblance.

This last project was an infographic about any topic we wanted. I chose big surprise (sarcasm) Beyonce my role model. This project was the most time i have ever spent in Graphic design.  Me being a little of a perfetionist i could never make my mind on a style or layout. Also during half of the week we started on this project i was sick, which cause me to be behind everyone. I came after school multiple times because i wasn't happy with anything that i was doing. Overall i turned in two different infographics because i couldn't chose between the two.

How did you use your time in class?
I use my time for the most part efficiently. To stay productive I listen to inspiring music aka Beyonce to keep me on task. Although sometimes i do get distracted by friends. Even when i'm not in graphic design i google and watch tutorials on how to better by design skills. I also go through bechance and get inspiration from there.

Strengths?
My areas of strengths in graphic design is my creative mind, and dedication. When I am working on a project i will stay after school as much as i need to get it done. If i am not happy with my project i will continue to do it over again till i am pleased.

Areas of improvement?

My areas of improvement would be time management, making sure i turn in everything on time and turn in my projects to behnaced. To improve this i will set a reminder on my phone daily to finish or turn something in, in addition to coming in after school.

Summary
What I loved the most about this semester is just the overall class, and my classmates. If i could change anything i would change my Vector Portrait because I didn't have enough time to redo it. Overall I really enjoyed this semester and the atmosphere of everything. For next semester i hope to improve my project management skills.
