Semester Reflection (Graphic Design)

Hey There it's Simply, Ann and this is my reflection over my sophomore year in e-Comm. As always thanks for reading!
Simply, Ann

Technology

Since this program is technology based, I have learned many things about technology. This year we focused our attention on mainly illustrator more than anything, so most of the knowledge that I have  gained is based off that application. Staring off this year I didn't know much about anything with technology besides the brief overview of it in 9th grade. With photoshop we watch numerous tutorials    and for illustrator we read articles on how to. It is important to learn this because technology is continuously growing and evolving and the only way to survive in this technology based world is to evolve with it and learn how to use it. I have faced some challenges along the way such as memory problems on illustrator but most of the challenge was learning how to use this new technology.

Collaboration

Collaborating was not a huge thing in Graphic Design; however, we would have small groups to critique each others work. In addition to small groups we also had a project were we worked in pairs to help research. I didn't learn the skill here but this class definitely improved my collaborating skills that had prior.

Communication

The ability to communicate information accurately, and clearly is a vital skill in life. We communicated a lot when it came to Graphic Design whether it was small groups or just simply asking another peer for help. We communicated the most with our art movement project. This was a challenge for me because I am not the best at public speaking. Although I didn't like doing it, it was a great preparation for the real world because communication is the key for everything.

Project Management

Project management is very important for anything that you do. I have learned about this skill the most throughout Graphic Design. I have faced many challenges with project management because I have a tendency to no turn in projects on time. To improve this skill I came into school early or stayed after to make sure I have everything  turned In.

Leadership

Like collaborating we didn't have a chance to express our leadership as much as other things.  Nonetheless Graphic design did teach me leadership skills that we used to guide ourselves. Some leadership skills that I learned was confidence being able to own your work and present it with assurance. Motivation, being able to continue working hard on your project even though you may hit a fork in the road or if you don't have the passion for it anymore.

Strengths & Weaknesses

I have improved greatly and some of my weaknesses previously have now became my strengths. My areas of strengths in graphic design is my creative mind, and dedication. When I am working on a project I will stay after school as much as I need to get it done. If I am not happy with my project I will continue to do it over again till I am satisfied that I have done my complete best. My areas of improvement would be time management, making sure I've turn in everything on time and turn in my projects to behanced. To improve this I will set a reminder on my phone daily to finish or turn something in, in addition to coming in after school.

Outside of School

Sadly I won't be continuing Graphic Design in school; but, I still plan to do it outside of school. My mom's friend has given me the job of creating a logo for her new business that she will be starting soon. With this, I can take away all of the knowledge that I have gain throughout this experience and apply it.

Change?

Overall I wouldn't change a thing because if I did I wouldn't have learn what I did from it. Instead of changing my mistakes I will use what I learned from them and apply it to my future experiences.

Conclusion

This year has been amazing and I overall have learned many things. From the beginning of the year I have grown so much as a person and through my graphic design skills. This class has made many foundations for great friendships that may continue throughout high school. No only did it give great friends it also made most of my high school experience.
